San Diego Zoo - Desert Dunes

The first in a series of three, this project was based on the Desert Dunes art and exhibit for the Children’s Zoo. The original art sent in was large, highly detailed and colorful raster. The process involved shrinking this huge image to fit onto an 8.5” wide by 3.5” tall print area as well reducing it down to one singular color - all while meeting our printing standards.

A side by side comparison of the original, beautiful art sent by San Diego Zoo and the final art for the Silipint cup. A lot of the textures had to be removed because they could not be recreated in a way that allowed us to print as is. Originally, this art was 142.5” wide by 109” high. The art also needed to be lengthened width-wise to fit the 8.5” wide wrap area without being distorted. All-in-all, this took about eight hours to simplify.
